As a Distribution Center Supervisor, you will report to the Corporate Distribution Center Manager. Direct reports for this position will consist of Warehouse Associates. You will work directly with other warehouse managers, the ordering team, the scheduling team and all levels of regional leadership.
Key Role Accountabilities
You will show up to work at the warehouse or jobsite, based on designation from manager, on time, in the appropriate attire, and with the necessary tools needed to complete the tasks assigned by your manager. At the warehouse, you will systematically prepare items to be transferred, receive in deliveries and maintain a high level of inventory accuracy. This will set you and your internal customers (warehouses) up for success.
When communication is received from either the scheduling team, ordering team, warehouses or regional leadership prompt action is required. Communication will mostly pertain to transfers of stock material from the corporate hub. It will be paramount that the Distribution Center Supervisor manages the transfer requests, builds the transfers and ships them physically and in the system. Transfers from the Corporate Hub that remain open will need follow up to ensure the transfer has been received by the destination location and closed out in the system. These steps are all critical in supporting the growth of West Shore Home and ensuring we achieve our mission and bring happiness to every home.
Timely and accurate receipts of purchase orders will be very important in maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy and ensuring the system reflects the correct quantities for transfers to be created. All receipts should be closed out within 24 hours of delivery and any overages, shortages or damages should be reported within 48 hours. Proper verification of purchase orders includes accurately signing the BOL for items / pallets received, unpacking of the products and verifying contents against a packing list and reporting any issues. The purchase orders items should be received in correctly against what was verified as delivered. Communication should be sent to the ordering team to follow up with vendors on any issues.
Warehouse organization and cleanliness will be one of the key responsibilities of the Distribution Center Supervisor. In order to operate safely and efficiently, organization and cleanliness will be the foundation to a well-managed corporate distribution center. It is up to the Distribution Center Supervisor to drive continuous improvement efforts and always look for ways to do things better!
What Success Looks Like
As a successful Distribution Center Supervisor, you will be able to support the growth and revenue targets of each of the regions you will be supplying. In doing so, you will be received PO’s timely and accurately while reporting and resolving any issues. Properly creating, packing and shipping the transfers will help to drive extreme ownership. By following each of the processes and refusing to take short cuts, you will maintain an inventory accuracy of 98.5%.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Non-Exempt role with standard hours from 07:00 to 15:00
- Overtime is common in this role.
- May require travel up to 5% to help facilitate the opening of other corporate distribution centers.
- Must be able to sit and use office equipment (computer, mouse, phone, etc.) for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and sometimes more than 50 lbs. .
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, and very high or low temperatures.
- Ability to operate a forklift (sit down or stand up)
Minimum Role Requirements
- Basic computer skills
- Warehouse experience strongly preferred
- Ability to operate a forklift required
- High school diploma or equivalent
